A Refreshingly Sweet & Spritzy Recipe for a Virgin Mojito Mocktail!

Have you ever tried a mojito? The first time I tried one, my sister, Penny, got one for me at a fancy-schmancy bar. I had no idea that there would be mint leaves inside, and had even less of an idea that it would be so friggin’ good. Alas, there are times when one needs the spritzy, the delight, the refreshing goodness that is a mojito—without the alcohol. For those times, I’m sharing this wonderful virgin mojito recipe—a virgin mojito mocktail, if you will. Are you ready to hit the drink cart with something deliciously thirst-quenching? Let’s shake this!

What Is a Virgin Mojito Mocktail?

Have you ever had a mojito? It’s an alcoholic cocktail made with fresh mint, lime juice, club soda, and rum. A virgin mojito is almost exactly the same drink, minus the rum. This is because a “virgin” drink is known as a mocktail— a cocktail that’s made without the alcoholic component.

So today’s recipe for a virgin mojito mocktail is made almost exactly like a mojito, except for the rum. The exact instructions are below!

How to Make a Virgin Mojito Mocktail

Surely there’s no such thing as a virgin mojito mocktail, right? Well, that’s actually wrong! Sometimes you need all the fun of a cocktail, but want to keep it alcohol-free, mocktail-style (aka virgin). So I’m gonna show you how to live it up with today’s mojito mocktail!

First, add fresh mint and simple syrup to a highball glass (or a mason jar, as I’ve done in these pics!).

Grab a muddler from a cocktail set like this one, and lightly muddle the mint and syrup. Be sure not to smash the heck out of the mint. Think of it as just lightly massaging the mint oils out of the leaves, not pulverizing it.

Now, add lime juice and ice. Gently stir these ingredients together to mix it.

Add ice to that glass.

Pour club soda to the top of the glass. Then, stir and scoop simultaneously to ensure fresh mint and simple syrup are spread evenly throughout the glass.

Garnish your mocktail with a mint sprig and a lime wheel. That’s it! Now, sip and enjoy your delicious virgin mojito recipe!

How to Spell Virgin Mojito

Okay, this one’s kind of a trick question since the answer is in the title. I know, Erik hates riddles too! But some folks often ask, “how do you spell virigin mohito??” Or, really, “how do you spell virgin mojito?” (I’m thinking this is all out loud haha). The answer is: Virgin Mojito!

Wanna Try This Delicious Virgin Mojito Recipe with Sprite?

If you’re looking for a way to make this virgin mojito recipe with Sprite, the swap out is pretty simple! Follow the recipe as listed, with just a few adjustments:

  • To use Sprite in this mocktail recipe:
    • Leave out the simple syrup
    • Instead of club soda, use the same amount of Sprite
  • For a sugar-free fix, try using Diet Sprite or Sprite Zero
  • For an indulgently sweet treat, keep the simple syrup in and use Sprite. 😉
